Art is powerful. It can change hearts, minds, and ultimately, our society and culture. From now through No Name-Calling Week, January 15-19, we're encouraging students and educators across the country to create artwork using the theme of #KindessInAction in K-12 schools, because that artwork has the power to change school climates for the better.
We encourage students and educators to showcase their art in Creative Expressions exhibits in their own schools, but they can also submit their artwork for the chance to be featured by GLSEN online. Submissions of any type of #KindnessInAction art are accepted until January 31 at 11:59pm ET.
As part of our exhibit, we'll be amplifying spoken-word pieces by queer and trans students and educators of color in our #KindnessInAction Open Mic, broadcast on Facebook Live during No Name-Calling Week. For a chance to perform for the Open Mic, queer and trans students and educators of color can submit their pieces via a written document and/or video by January 2 at 11:59pm.
